More detail regarding the deployment of CylancePROTECT to Windows and Linux computers will be sent later this summer. After the two-week review, we will convert it to blocking mode and then remove McAfee from those systems. It will run initially in monitoring mode only. Mac users will begin to see the Cylance application on their IT managed computer. We are releasing Cylance to all Macs over the next few weeks in preparation for the end of our McAfee subscription. The product is much more effective but does shift some of the oversight responsibility to the IT security administrators. Certain applications that are benign yet exhibit some of these behavioral patterns can be whitelisted for the organization at the administrator level. Rather than relying on particular virus definitions, Cylance targets behavioral patterns of threatening applications. Cylance is a robust and powerful application that blocks virus and malware threats before they take hold. So please make sure you have at least some kind of antivirus solution on your computer.OIT is currently testing a new antivirus application called CylancePROTECT. But I would recommend this and any other safe AntiVirus solution over nothing at all. ![]() But just realize you are sacrificing a lot when choosing PC Tools AntiVirus. If you want the most simple and easy to use AntiVirus solution with the least conflicts then PC Tools is a great free solution. Updates are manual which to be defeats the purpose of having an AntiVirus. It's a lot like other PC Tools products so if you use other PC Tool products you will feel right at home.The downsides to PC Tools AntiVirus is it's low detection rate and no auto updates. PC Tools AntiVirus is the simplest AntiVirus solution that doesn't really conflict with anything. Simplicity and Detection are 2 key factors in my ratings. ![]() Also during my new ratings no 2 AntiVirus solutions can get the same grade so keep that in mind when you see my new reviews.
